Garena's Garena first league (GPL) was introduced in May 2012. The GPL is a pro online gaming event that lasts for 6 months and features more than 100 games. The first season of GPL includes the League of Legends competition which includes six professional teams. that represent elite players from respective countries. GPL games are filmed and streamed online with commentaries, which are made available to the public to view on the GPL official website. In January of 2013, Garena released the 2nd seasons of Garena Premier League, which will begin on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League, 2013 includes two teams from Taiwan & Vietnam. The total of eight teams will be raised to nine. Teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) Kualalumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) as well as Manila Eagles(Manila), Taipei Assassinsand Singapore Sentinels. Garena's eSports Stadium that is that is dedicated to esports within the Neihu District Taipei, opened on the 14th of November 14, 2014. The studio was built partially in order to host the League of Legends Masters Series The top-level Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as the Macau LoL league that was a an offshoot of the GPL. In January 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League, a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The tournament is scheduled for the second week of every month. It's goal is to boost participation of groups with low representation and is open to people who self-identify as women. Alongside tournaments for competitive play, Garena also organizes events that allow users who want to connect and meet offline. Garena holds the Garena Festival in Singapore, Malaysia and other nations.
