Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from the family members, she was brought up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. While a small girl, Ford was battling anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder caused by word associations. Ford began to become fascinated by acting during her teenaged years, and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after just one week she realized that she wasn't a good fit. Ford, instead of applying to Central School of Speech and Drama and securing a place at the third time made an application and secured an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall - who later played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who - was one of her classmates. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. But, before then, Ford made a television debut when she appeared on Surgical Spirit in an episode from the year 1991. Ford took the professional title of Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in programs on television as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London Burning. The stage was her main focus and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company's season 2000-2001. Tate began to gain attention because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
